Beautiful Music The voice of a new jazz singer
A local rising starIf you yearn for the soft jazzy voice of time gone by, your search is over. Local talent Emily Nicole has the voice of a jazz singer far beyond her years, and is delighting auditory senses all around town. Raised her entire life in St. Charles County, this Francis Howell Central High School junior discovered her passion for music at a very early age. She has trained with noted vocalists Cynthia Benevidas and Anne Varwig, and studied piano for 10 years. She performed for 6 years with the Patt Holt Singers, and has shared the stage with local singers Diana Starr and Charles Hilliard. This summer, Emily Nicole will travel to Springfield, Missouri where she has been accepted into the Missouri Fine Arts Academy. It is a great honor to be chosen to attend this academy for performing and visual art students, which has a rigorous audition process, and limited number of attendees.

In addition to her many vocal accomplishments, Emily Nicole is a seasoned actor, performing in the Francis Howell Central performances of Fiddler on the Roof, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, 42nd Street, Guys and Dolls, Les Miserables and narrating in the production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat.
Although she has many demands on her time, Emily Nicole makes sure to honor her beginnings, singing on the Praise Team at her home church and at several local venues. When she has down time, Emily Nicole enjoys the things many teenagers do, including reading, video games, movies, bicycling and running.
College plans have not yet been finalized, but Emily Nicole wants to major in musical performance, and is very passionate about embarking on a career in music. To that end, she has already released her first CD, Like Someone In Love.
This jazzy compilation features such favorites as “Fever”, “Summertime”, and “They Can’t Take That Away From Me”. A smooth, relaxing CD, citing influences such as Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Charles, The Beatles and Norah Jones. Like Someone In Love will be available soon on her website.
Needless to say, Emily Nicole is a name you will hear much about in the coming years. She will be performing at the Saint Charles Business Magazine's 50 Over Fifty Community Shaper Awards, October 23.
